On weekends and national holidays in November, Cafe & Sweets Parade Kyoto will hold a Freshly Baked Scone Month, serving scones baked in our in-store oven, straight from the oven.
When you break open a scone baked in the oven, steam and the aroma of wheat rise the moment it splits. The outside is toasty and crunchy, and the inside is fluffy and moist. This difference, which fades as time passes, can be felt most clearly when the scones are freshly baked.
At the reservation-only cream tea set we held in the summer, we also received many comments saying, “We would love to try the scones freshly baked.” In November, we hope to respond to those voices, even in a small way.
On that occasion the scones were served with seasonal jam blood orange jam wildflower honey from Higuchi Apiary and fresh cream
The Scone Varieties Are a Surprise Each Day
The flavors of our freshly baked scones change from day to day. Some days may feature a classic, such as a plain scone that lets you enjoy the flavor of the wheat, while on others there may be a toasty scone combining caramelized walnuts and whole wheat flour. What has come out of the oven is a surprise you can discover when you visit. We would be happy if you could enjoy the fun of coming across a different scone the first time and the second time.
