【OEM & Product Development】We Created Welcome Sweets and a Cookie Tin
for the Art Hotel BnA Alter Museum
2026.04.09
OEM & Brandingspring-limited welcome sweets and a cookie tin provided at the art hotel “BnA Alter Museum”
as part of its stay experience service for overseas guests.
Located in Kyoto’s Kawaramachi area, BnA Alter Museum is a truly unique hotel where artists’ works are incorporated into the guest rooms and shared spaces, making the stay itself an “art experience.”
It welcomes many guests from Japan and abroad, and another of its distinctive features is that travelers from overseas account for about 80–90% of its guests. As a place to experience the art culture of the Kansai region, it is supported by guests with a keen sensibility.

We were approached for this OEM project when BnA Alter Museum, entering its 7th year since opening, created new art rooms and partially renovated some existing guest rooms. As one of the initiatives to further enrich the overall hotel experience, we created welcome sweets and a cookie tin to serve as a souvenir.

A new taste experience
with surprising pairings
of distinctly Kyoto ingredients
Against this background, Cafe & Sweets Parade Kyoto planned and developed (as OEM production) baked sweets intended to offer guests more than just baked goods. Under the concepts of “Kyoto Collaboration” and “Surprise,” and aiming for an experience that combines “Kyoto character” and “surprise,” we incorporated pairings with long-established Kyoto brands and Japan’s fermentation culture to create a taste experience unlike anything before.
During the production period, we held repeated trials and meetings with BnA Alter Museum, reflecting each opinion we exchanged one by one until the products were completed. Beyond flavor and composition, we also shared ideas on matters such as “what kind of experience to deliver,” and supported the project throughout while valuing the process of shaping it together.

■ Matcha Fennel (Matcha × Fennel)
Made with matcha from Ippodo Tea, a tea shop founded in 1717.
The deep umami and rich bitterness of matcha are layered with the soft, sweet aroma of fennel for a flavor with real depth.

■ Chocolate Sansho (Chocolate × Japanese Sansho Pepper)
Made with powdered sansho from Hara Ryokaku, a long-established shop in Gion.
Its tingling, numbing heat and clean aroma that rises through the nose combine with the richness of chocolate for a flavor in which the character of the spice stands out.

■ Edam Cheese Sake Lees (Edam Cheese × Sake Lees)
Made with junmai daiginjo sake lees from the Tamanohikari sake brewery in Fushimi, Kyoto, one of Japan’s three great sake-brewing regions.
The rich aroma and gentle sweetness that come from fermentation combine with the deep richness of Edam cheese for a mellow flavor with depth.

■ Almond Chocolate (Almond Chocolat)
Made with chocolate from the French company Valrhona.
Fragrant caramelized almonds are coated in chocolate with a rich cacao flavor and an elegant melt-in-the-mouth quality, offering a balance of texture and sweetness to enjoy.
Experiences opened up through baked sweets
Each one draws out the character of its ingredients, such as matcha × fennel, chocolate × Japanese sansho pepper, and sake lees × Edam cheese, expressing new flavors where Japanese and Western elements meet.
In addition, all products are gluten-free, made with Japanese rice flour, with a light mouthfeel and suitability for a wide range of guests in mind. In terms of shelf life and ease of carrying home, they are also designed to meet both the needs of the hotel stay experience and the demand for souvenirs.
Cookie tin packaging that merges with art

The cookie tin packaging was designed and produced by BnA Alter Museum, and features the guest room artwork of Mon Koutaro Ooyama, an artist who has 4 different art rooms (guest rooms) at BnA.
Characterized by organic curves and vivid colors, the packaging turned out wonderfully, making you want to take it home and give it to someone as a gift.

Welcome sweets in the guest rooms
and a travel souvenir to take home
The assorted cookies in 3 flavors and the original cookie tin are also provided in guest rooms as welcome sweets for hotel guests, limited to the spring 2026 tourist season.

In addition, the cookie tin can be purchased at the BnA Alter Museum front desk in limited quantities, even by those who are not staying at the hotel.
